fundraiser for mature fund
Listen, would anyone be interested/willing to participate in the women's mini-marathon soon? I'm just thinking that this econ-credit crunch has affected many of us, and feel, if we can add to the pot for supplimentary funding, it will help many and dispel the pride thing of asking for funding when and if you need it. The mini-marathon itself is great craic, but it'll be happening very soon so we'll have to get moving on it. OR if anyone else has ideas for fundraising, please let us know!

Valentine's eve speed-date night [13-02-‘13]

This event will be held at the Trinity Pav at 7pm and is a collaboration between the Mature Society and the International Society. It's just playful entertainment and who knows who you will be spending the rest of the evening talking to! The event will also be a showcase of diversity and it is hoped that it brings people together for which it is maybe unlikely they would have met otherwise. So let’s all break down those language and gender barriers and have fun. And again... no strings attached.
Drinks reception 7-7.30pm. The ultimate couple receives a prize.
Disclaimer: the Society is not responsible for any trouble associated with long-lasting relationships that is caused either directly or indirectly by this event.

Free Lunch and EGM

This Friday, 25th of January, the Society is organizing its monthly Free Lunch at The Atrium, from 12pm to 2pm. Come down and have a chat with fellow mature students!
An Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) will take place at the end of the lunch, 1.30-2pm for the purpose of a new secretary. Anyone interested in this position can email us on or contact members of the present committee in person. The role is responsible for correspondence with the members, record-keeping, keeping minutes, and report activities to Central Societies Committee (CSC). As a committee we share the work load and assist each other in their tasks, and full guidance and assistance is provided, so don't worry should you have limited or no experience at all. Please note that people who haven't renewed their membership for 2012-13 need to do so in order to vote or to be eligible for the secretary position, at least 24 hours before EGM (that is, at least before Thursday 1.30pm, but preferably earlier).

70/80/90's party

To satisfy both the seniors and the juniors of our society, and everyone in between, we are organizing a night with the best music of that famous three decades. Polish up your dance shoes and start practising those moves in the mirror. From Queen to ABBA, from Joy Division to the Backstreet Boys, this night is legendary already. Show your dancing skills and think back to the time you looked even better than you look now. For those who like to show off in a more private setting, or for those who lost their voice already halfway through the night, there will be karaoke rooms! There is a prize for most effort/best dress! A buffet is provided as well.
Time: Tuesday 29th of January, from 9pm till late
Location: UKIYO, 7-9 Exchequer st., D2.
Dress code: anything which was fashionable between 1970 and 2000
The event is free!

Winterval Celebration: December 14th, last day of term. The final event of 2012 will be held this Friday December 14th, on the last day of term. Owing to the fact that we have such a diverse membership, "Winterval" will be a general celebration of the Winter Season and the end of the 1st semester (exam/assignment end). Food and beverages (non-alcoholic) will be provided! This event will be held on the ground floor of the Atrium between 5-7pm and is open to all our members (and a great opportunity for some to line their stomachs before partying elsewhere ). Santa will be there with little gifts for all, and a storyteller will entertain whoever feels young enough. Although it's a child friendly event, we hope you understand that we cannot be held responsible for child supervision though. This event will be part-funded (with many thanks) by the TCD Mature Students Officer, Clodagh Byrne. Looking forward to seeing y'all and having fun on the day.

The tour will meet at front-square at 12.30pm and go via Foster's Place, O’Connell st., [GPO] returning at 1.45pm to the Atrium, 1st floor, our society room area where tea/coffee and sandwiches will be provided.

This event will be held on Thursday 18th in the Atrium, ground floor area between 12-2pm. Owing to the fact it is a 4th week event, it open to all members of college. These are usually very well attended events, and a great opportunity for students to meet, chat and have ‘FREE FOOD’ and ‘Beverages’ provided. Our Society room is located on the 1st Floor of this building, room 6, members are welcome anytime. The event is part-funded by the Central Societies Committee, many thanks.
